Kate received her Bachelor of Applied Arts from Central Michigan University in Family Studies. She obtained her Master’s in Social Work from Michigan State University in 2016 and is now in her first year in the Doctor of Health Administration at Central Michigan University.
Kate accepted the position of Director of Clinical Services for the Carls Center for Clinical Care and Education at Central Michigan University (CMU) slightly over a year ago. She has have worked closely with the clinical leadership team of the various clinics – audiology, psychology, autism assessment, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology – to ensure an environment that promotes best practices in clinical care as well as a strong education experience for CMU students.
Before CMU, Kate spent the past 10 years of her work experience in various roles, including leadership positions, at Ingham County Medical Care Facility (ICMCF). During her social work position at ICMCF, she obtained her master’s in social work from Michigan State University in organization and community leadership (or macro) emphasis. After receiving her MSW, she served in various leadership roles, such as the Outpatient Therapy and Wellness, the Director of Post-Acute Care Network and Wellness, and Interim Director of Social Work.
Throughout Kate’s healthcare experience, she has collaborated with clinicians (physical, occupational, and speech therapists; hospitalists, primary care, and rehab physicians; social workers, nurses, and internal/external administrators) across the care continuum. She believes this collaboration is pivotal in the ever-changing healthcare arena.
Kate and her husband just celebrated their 13th anniversary. Together, they have two children—Liam (9) and Rosie (5) –and a German Shepherd named Kylo. When she’s not attending a sporting event, Kate enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with her family.
