Martin Leever PhD, Professor & Chair of Philosophy, University of Detroit Mercy
Martin Leever chairs the Department of Philosophy at the University of Detroit Mercy where he teaches moral theory and health care ethics. His books include Ethics in Action (Wiley Blackwell, 2009) and Ethical Child Welfare Practice (Child Welfare League of America, 2001). Leever’s work has been published in such journals as Health Care Ethics Committee Forum, Nursing Ethics, Health Progress, Teaching Ethics, Philosophy in the Contemporary World, and The Journal of Social Work Ethics and Values. He also serves on ethics committees and ethics consultation services for health care organization in the metro Detroit area. Leever holds a B.A. and an M.A. from Marquette University and a Ph.D. from Loyola University of Chicago. He joined Detroit Mercy in 2000 and received the Faculty Achievement Award in 2006.
