Frances Jackson PhD, RN, PRP
Dr. Jackson is a lifelong resident of the City of Detroit. She has the following degrees and work experience: a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, a Master of Arts degree in Guidance & Counseling and a PhD in Counseling from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She also has a Master of Science degree in medical-surgical nursing from the University of Michigan. She has worked as a Registered Nurse at several Detroit-area hospitals, including Detroit General Hospital, Sinai Hospital of Detroit and Harper Hospital. She has also worked in home care and substance abuse and as a clinical nurse specialist in hospice care. Dr. Jackson was on faculty at Oakland University School of Nursing for 30 years. At the time of her retirement in 2012, she was Director of Graduate Nursing Programs. She currently holds Professor Emerita status with the School of Nursing.
Dr. Jackson has been funded to conduct studies on culture and health, culture and end-of-life issues, and HIV/AIDS and older African Americans. She has more than 15 peer-reviewed publications and has conducted numerous presentations on culture and end-of-life care.
