Adam Hunt, DO went to medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and did his dual residency in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine at McLaren Oakland in Pontiac, Michigan. Dr. Hunt also received a Masters Degree in International Health from The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He currently practices Emergency Medicine at Covenant Emergency Care Center in Saginaw, MI and is core faculty for the Emergency Medicine residency program.

Dr. Cory Rubin is a board-certified dermatologist through the American Board of Dermatology. He has been in practice since 2014. Dr. Rubin has opened a new practice, the Michigan Dermatology Institute, which is located in Waterford, Michigan. The core mission of his clinic is to provide trustworthy, high-quality, patient-centered, evidence-based care that is free of conflicts of interest for patients and their families.

Dr. Rubin received his undergraduate degree from University of Rochester and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He completed his medical degree at Sydney Kimmel Medical Collage at Thomas Jefferson University and also graduated Magna Cum Laude. For his residency, Dr. Rubin was University of Michigan trained.

Dr. Rubin was born and raised outside of Philadelphia but has called the Detroit suburbs home since 2007. He is happily married to his wife Barb with 5 kids and 2 dogs.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, ice hockey and traveling. He is also an Assistant Professor at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWBSOM).

Ewa Matuszewski is the CEO and a co-founder of MedNetOne Health Solutions and a champion of innovative primary care and chronic care initiatives, including the Community Care Travel Team, which received the Eagle Award from the Greater Detroit Area Health Council in 2010.  Her areas of expertise include health policy analysis, physician workforce strategies, physician practice environment, primary care team leadership, primary care practice management/governance interface and quality improvement and validation within physician practices.  Ms. Matuszewski is also a practice mentor with the American Academy of Family Physicians’ Practice Enhancement Forum, a guest lecturer at the Doctors’ Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, a member of the Michigan Primary Care Consortium and co-chair of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Physician Group Incentive Program (PGIP) Patient Centered Medical Home Committee. She is also a founding member of the Michigan Stanford Chronic Disease Self-Management Program Master Trainers Organization, American Medical Group Association and the Michigan Primary Care Consortium.

Dr. Weingarden is Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She earned her medical degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in California. Dr. Weingarden completed her residency at Henry Ford Hospital and fellowship at Wayne State University. She received a Master’s in Public Health from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She works at the Birmingham Maple Clinic where her areas of specialization include psychiatric evaluations and management of children and adolescents. This includes early childhood evaluations, disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, thought disorders, and ADHD. Dr. Weingarden also works as an Oakland County school consultant, works once a month at a boys’ residential facility in Detroit and does some consulting work at a foster care home.


Jessica Heselschwerdt MD's Profile

Dr. Heselschwerdt attended medical school at Wayne State University and completed her family medicine residency at UT Austin. She currently works in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to seeing patients, she teaches second year medical students and precepts with McLaren's family medicine residency. She enjoys all aspects of family medicine but has a special interest in LGBTQ+ health. She provides primary care and gender-affirming hormone therapy for many transgender patients. She is also passionate about advocacy and community service and is a member of MAFP’s advocacy committee and a regular volunteer with Spartan Street Medicine.  


Nick Poponea DO's Profile

Dr. Poponea grew up in Waterford, MI and has spent most of his adult life there. He attended Michigan State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science with a minor in Hispanic Studies in 2009. In 2010, he began his medical education at MSUCOM Detroit campus and entered residency training in internal medicine at Mclaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, MI. Dr. Poponea went on to complete a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Mclaren Oakland in 2019 and he began his post-training career by traveling around the country working in ICUs during the covid-19 pandemic. For the last three years, Dr. Poponea’s practice has consisted of travel work in 10 states and dozens of hospitals ranging from small community hospitals to large academic referral centers in the capacity as both an inpatient intensivist and also an outpatient pulmonologist. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, and he is pursuing board certification in neurocritical care. His academic interests include advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy, neurocritical care, asthma, and medical education. Outside of medicine, he enjoys outdoor pursuits involving camping, hiking, rock climbing, and skiing. Later this year he will be moving to the southwest to join a private practice pulmonary group in Phoenix; but despite this, he remains a Michigander at heart.
