Marissa Cohler, MD is a board-certified physiatrist specializing in chronic pain management. She completed her residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago), consistently ranked among the nation’s top rehabilitation hospitals. Dr. Cohler currently practices with Override Health, a virtual interdisciplinary program dedicated to helping patients with chronic pain through evidence-based, multimodal care. She is the author of book chapters in Pain Procedures in Clinical Practice and Medical Aspects of Disability, and has published peer-reviewed articles in leading journals including PM&R, American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise.
Dr. Fitton received his undergraduate degree from Defiance College where he graduated Suma Cum Laude prior to medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in family medicine at Metro Health Hospital in Grand Rapids serving as chief resident his senior year. He then completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Sparrow Hospital/Michigan State University. Dr. Fitton is currently board certified in Family Medicine with a Certificate of added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He is an associate professor.
Dr. Fitton is an associate professor and serves as a Team Physician with Michigan State University Athletics as well as community events. He is also Associate Chief Medical Information Officer with MSU HealthTeam and participates as core Faculty for the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.
Dr. Fitzgerald is originally from Grand Rapids. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame prior to attending medical school at Marian University in Indianapolis. He went on to complete a residency in family medicine and a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the University of Kentucky. He moved back to Grand Rapids with his wife Makenzie in 2021 and has since worked the University of Michigan Health – West. He has partnered with Grand Valley State University athletics as well as with several other local organizations, including the Grand Rapids Gold and Grand Rapids Rise. He enjoys running, cycling, and spending time with his wife and children, Miles and Maya.

Dr. Graham is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist Physical Therapist. Following his Doctorate he attended residency at Columbia University –Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons for Residency in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. Following residency, he worked in professional sports underneath the Red Wings organization as the Lead Physical Therapist for the Grand Rapids Griffins. After his time with the Griffins, he returned to outpatient orthopedics to serve the community in which he grew up.
I am board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Infectious Diseases and have taken care of HIV patients for over 30 years. I have also taken care of hepatitis C patients for 20 years. I am a professor at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and I have developed courses in HIV and hepatitis. I teach medicine residents as well as ID fellows on HIV and hepatitis C at my clinical sites.
I am currently the Director of HIV/Hepatitis clinics at three sites:
All three sites are FQHC sponsored clinics, and all are funded by Ryan White for HIV Care. I am currently taking care of over 1000 HIV patients and over 500 Hepatitis C and B patients.
I am the Director of the HIV Registry at Michigan State University. The registry has data on over 600 HIV patients and we are currently doing translational research at MSU, which have been NIH sponsored grants.
Dr. Jeffery Johnston earned a Doctorate in Dental Surgery 1982 and Master’s Degree 1986 in Periodontology from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Johnston is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery, a Fellow in both the International and American College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy and International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is a Certified Dental Editor and Past-Editor for the Michigan Dental Association. Dr. Johnston is also a Past-President of the Michigan Dental Association and Michigan Periodontal Association. He maintained a private practice limited to Periodontics for 28 years.
Dr. Johnston is currently Senior Vice-President / Chief Science Officer for Delta Dental Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana and Director of the Research and Data Institute. He is also Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Periodontology and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan. He has authored numerous scientific publications and has lectured extensively on the topics of Periodontology, Oral Medicine, and Implant Dentistry.

Biosketch - David R. Neff, D.O.
David Neff, DO has been in medical practice for 45 years with practical expertise in health policy at the national and local levels and how it impacts access to high-quality patient care. While performing roles in clinical practice, academia, state government, and the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Neff has been involved in large scale health systems strategy and design projects for chronic pain conditions, addiction and several other disease states. He has been studying the history of opioid use over several millennia and the impact of the current opioid mortality crisis since 2010 and its earliest beginnings in the early 2000’s.
He is an expert on opioid addiction in the age of fentanyl and polysubstance misuse. He has practical experience with predictive genomics that is applicable to the epigenetics of pain and addiction management. He has chaired several P&T Committees and Drug Utilization Review Boards. He is a founding member of the Michigan Health Society Opioid Safety Collaborative and the Michigan Osteopathic Association’s Presidential Ad Hoc Committee to address the opioid crisis since their inception in 2016.
Dr. Neff frequently lectures on these topics at the state and national level and has engaged in online training to satisfy licensing requirements of the US Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act of 2022 and for MI licensing requirements.
Dr. Neff is board certified by American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and completed a two-year fellowship in Osteopathic Manual Medicine and Clinical Biomechanics. He was appointed to the clinical faculty in the MSUCOM Department of Family and Community Medicine in 1981.
Dr M. Shane Patterson is a Board Certified Internist and is fellowship trained in
OMT. Since 2003 he has been providing comprehensive primary care including MS
pain management utilizing OMM based on the FPMSS paradigm at Osteopathic
Health Care Associates which he is founder and CEO. His patient population
includes patients with multi-regional, chronic, tertiary musculoskeletal pain
syndromes including headache, Long COVID, post concussive syndrome and

Dr. Jonathan C. VandenBerg, D.O. is a physiatrist board certified in spinal cord injury medicine at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he leads the SCI Program. He completed his medical school at MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Rush University Medical Center and a fellowship in SCI Medicine at UTHealth in Houston. Dr. VandenBerg has been in practice for 5 years. His clinical and academic work centers on interdisciplinary rehabilitation, functional recovery, and innovative approaches to documentation and care delivery, including the integration of AI-based scribing. He is actively involved in quality improvement initiatives, program development, and national advocacy for SCI research and funding. In addition to his clinical practice, he teaches trainees across multiple disciplines and frequently lectures on best practices in SCI management.
Ramona Wallace D.O. IFMCP, is an Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine at WMED. Currently in Battle Creek teaching in the Family Medicine Residency Program. She became Certified in Functional Medicine in 2018. Since then she has piloted a Functional Medicine Residency track. Prior to coming to Battle Creek, she worked in Muskegon at a FQHC and developed various programs to address the disparities in care, focusing on nutritional insecurity as well as building community resilience. Her current focus of research is to develop a nutritional deficiency data base.
