LGBTQA Considerations in Medical Care and Mental Health

Learning Objectives:

1) Identify and understand terminology commonly associated with the LGBT population and appropriate application of that terminology including sexual identify, orientation, behavior, gender identity, gender presentation, assigned sex, with use of appropriate names, pronouns, sex and sexual identity terms.
2) Understand unique challenges this patient population faces in obtaining culturally sensitive medical and psychiatric care.
3) Utilize tools of resilience strategies to help patients cope with social stressors and potential discrimination for the LGBTQ population.
